TFC Supplies are putting on the glitz for a charity ball

On Saturday 11th November, local business, TFC Supplies, is hosting a black-tie charity ball at Crewe Hall Hotel to raise vital funds for Lewis Crossley, an extremely special 7-year-old boy from Hough, near Crewe.

TFC Supplies are inviting friends, family and members of the local community and beyond to come together to enjoy a spectacular evening of entertainment and fundraising.  Guests will enjoy a drinks reception before taking their seats for a 3-course meal.  Entertainment will be provided by Manchester’s indie favourites – The Rainband, who have earned rave reviews from the likes of Liam Gallagher and Jim Kerr.  Their accolades include headlining the Italian Moto GP, playing alongside Paolo Nutini and achieving top 10 positions in the UK Indie singles chart.  The big-hearted band, led by singer, Martin Finnigan are very generously donating their services to the event.

Two years ago, Lewis was diagnosed with T Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and has subsequently undergone a variety of challenging treatments including multiple courses of chemotherapy and a bone marrow transplant. On 6th June, Lewis’ parents received the devastating news that he had once again relapsed.  His family are not giving up hope and are tirelessly pursuing the possibility of new drugs and clinical trials.

The aim of the ball is to help raise as much money as possible for Lewis and his chosen charity – the Joe Gilligan Trust, (charity no. 1135808) a charity devoted to improving the lives of teenagers and young adults with cancer.

To help TFC Supplies achieve this aim, they are approaching local businesses with requests for donations for the charity auction, for which Hassall Brothers Auctioneers are kindly donating their services.  To date, TFC Supplies, the Dysart Arms, Crocky Trail, Crewe Hall, Wendy’s Flowers, Blue Planet Aquarium, Skin Health Spa, White Hart at Hough, Francesco, Grace Ladies Boutique, Hair 38, BizzyBods, Finefoodies Deli, Joanne Humphries Photography, Assurant, Hoity Toity Shoes and Si Belle have all generously donated prizes.  Any further donations of prizes will be most greatly appreciated.

Rolana Wright, General Manager of TFC Supplies said: “I have been friends with Lewis’ dad since our school days and have followed Lewis’ progress throughout his treatment.  He is an unbelievably brave little boy and I am in absolute in awe of him.  I am sure that it will be a wonderful evening – the whole team are pulling out-the-stops to make it a night to remember.”

“We have been incredibly touched by the kindness and generosity that both the band and local businesses have shown – it’s community spirit at its best,” commented Paula Hassall, Marketing Communications Manager, TFC Supplies.

Tickets for the event are priced at £50 per person and can be purchased by calling Paula Hassall on: 01270 781158 or emailing: or  Various sponsorship packages are also available. Tickets can also be purchased online

The Rainband will be playing at the event.

At last, winter is finally over and spring is officially here.  Let the lighter nights and warmer weather help you to shake off those winter blues.

With weeding, pruning and planting to be done, Spring presents one of the most exciting but equally busy times for the gardener.  It’s also the ideal time for implementing larger transformational gardening projects, such as laying a new patio or building a deck.

A decking area is a fabulous solution for bringing the comforts of indoor living outdoors, but before you dust-off your tools and get to work, take a look at our top-tips for effective decking preparation:

1. It’s all in the planning – When deciding where to position your decking, be sure to consider where you will get the best sun exposure and shelter and whether the location is easy to access.

2. Size matters – Be clear about the purpose of your decking.  Whether it be an outdoor dining space, a comfortable seating for the whole family to enjoy or a cosy nook for two, be sure to properly measure the space required so that it comfortably accommodates your requirements.

3. Ground prep. – Ensure that you remove all weeds and turf from the area where your decking will be situated and then apply a substantial membrane to prevent any weeds or grass from growing between your decking boards.

4. Quality is king – Use quality materials such as stainless steel screws and galvanised nuts and bolts so that your decking looks great year after year.

5. Be a good neighbour – It’s very rare to require planning permission for a decking area, but if your deck is going to overlook your neighbours, it’s worth checking with your local planning office and having a polite discussion with your neighbours first.

6. Defend against the elements – Timber decking benefits from a weather resistant finish that will help to protect it against the elements.  Make this a part of your yearly Spring cleaning routine.

7. Safety first – Outdoor surfaces can become slippery particularly in winter.  Apply a high-quality anti-slip product to prevent against slips and falls.

TFC Supplies stock a broad range of competitively priced decking materials, from individual boards to complete kits.  For further information about our decking, call us on: 01782 791000 or pop into one of our shops where our friendly team will be happy to help.
